Hello! I am Lorraine and my CV describes me as a professional campaigner for injured people. But that’s only part of what I do and only part of who I am.
I have loved the power, magic, sparkle and drama of semi-precious stones and the gleam of silver all my life. And, despite living in land-locked Derby, I’m at my happiest by the sea, whatever the weather. For me, beachcombing and swimming in the ocean are a blues-beating combination of fresh air and exercise, enhanced by the prospect of finding beautiful, natural treasures from the deep. Those magical liminal places at the water’s edge are also the source of much of my inspiration.
So, some years ago, when I had the opportunity to learn the skills and artform of wire-wrapping jewellery it felt as if I’d come home. Now, every time I sit down to create silver jewellery with beautiful stones, seashells or sea glass, and silver, it’s like a dream come true.
I craft jewellery from semi-precious stones which are hand-picked for their beauty and the lore and meaning attached to them, creating highly individual pieces which are rich in symbolism and which tell their own stories. Each piece of sea glass is hand collected, after decades of natural tumbling by the ocean tides has turned it into a lovely frosted gem, perfect for making distinctive jewellery which is both rare and precious.
I am happy to consider commission-pieces, including a customer’s own stone if it is suitable for the wire-wrapping process. All pieces are gift-boxed and include information about the stones used and their properties.
