About The Author & Her Journey
I am Anna the creator of Wellbeing Winnie and ‘Your Body Is Listening’, both of which were inspired (partly) because of an illness called myalgic encephalomyelitis (M.E) which I have had since the age of fourteen. It is an illness that is associated with, and affects the function and health of, the immune system.
After years of embracing yoga and a holistic lifestyle (to help me to manage the condition) my own yoga practice took a dramatic turn. Each session became fuelled with anger and judgement. I had become very competitive with myself.
This is when the universe stepped in. My life took a tumble (literally). A fall from a ceiling loft hatch damaged my neck and spine. Yoga movement became about rehabilitation and making friends with my body, listening carefully to what it had to say.
My meditation practice increased and that’s when my world fell apart. I felt like a fake, who had pushed trauma deep down into my bones. artificially smoothed every crack to be seen as something I really wasn’t.
Five years, it took me to heal (mind, body and soul). The more I resisted, the longer it took.
Does M.E. still affect me? Yes, but that’s the fun part…
My body is telling me what I need to do, to be mindful of my thoughts, my beliefs and the things I entertain. What I think and believe, I become. You and your body are the most important physical relationship you can ever have in this lifetime.
Although I initially trained in the traditions of the yoga philosophy, my style has dramatically changed. My teaching now blends a whole host of other energy-healing techniques together, creating a healing system that is unique to Wellbeing Winnie.
